The Council
The Council is the highest authority of the Association of Family Offices in Asia. It is responsible for the decision-makings, daily operation and the finance of the Association. The current Council of the Association is comprised of the following founding members : the Chairman, the Secretary General and the Director General.

               Eva Law
      Chairman & Founder      
Ms. Eva Law established the Association of Private Bankers in Greater China Region in 2010 aiming to promote industry development, offer professional training to practitioners, foster knowledge exchange & collaboration and launch service portal designated for market participants.

While in 2013, Eva also set up the Association of Family Offices in Asia targeting to support ultra-affluence and industry practitioners who own intimate & deep relationship with mega wealth holders to establish and manage their family councils, single or independent family offices and to administer the family’s wealth succession, strategic philanthropy and corporate development of their family business.

Eva has served the industry for 19 years. Before setting up the Associations, she worked in the head office of top-rated Chinese bank, responsible for the strategic development and the P&L performance of private banking & cross-border financial services. She has been with a Chinese boutique investment banking firm, through leveraging Swiss EAM private banking platform and arranging direct investment to serve the Ultra HNW clients in great China region.

Eva also served Fortune 500 companies, including global bank, pension fund, asset manager, insurer and listed family business enterprise, taking leadership positions and sitting in board of directors, investment management, risk management, asset & liability management, product development and audit committees. Eva owns wealthy of management experience, she has been the registered responsible officer and chief executive licensed with regulators under SFC, Insurance, Retirement and Money Lending regimes. She also won the Best Master Trust Award, Wealth Management High-Flyer Award and various Fund Performer Awards from Lipper, Morning Star for her served companies.

Eva is the Chairman of APB, AFO and Institute for Asia Family Firms, she is also the founding member of Women In Leadership – Hong Kong & Pearl River Delta Chapter, the Honorary Chairman of Hong Kong Family Offices Association and the Executive Chairman of Association of China Independent Wealth Advisory Institutions - Family Office Council, the researcher of Xi'an Jiaotong University, the Honorary Research Fellow of Legacy Academy, the Special Advisor to Singapore Private Wealth Association, US Family Offices Institute, Global Visions Community in Switzerland and Asian Co-Investors Club and the appointed writer for Family Office Elite Magazine, CEO & Entrepreneur Magazine and frequent speaker in international conferences.

She is advancing her study with University of Pennsylvania. She also held Master of Science with Edinburgh Napier University. She is a Chartered Family Office Specialist and has awarded FLMI certificate, Bachelor of Art (Hon) and several professional diplomas in investment banking, mergers & acquisition, security and asset management professions.


              Joey Or
         Secretary General
Miss Joey Or joined the preparation task force to establish Association of Family Offices in Asia since 2013. She was instrumental to the inauguration of AFO and the formulation of the organization policy.
With close connection with private and institutional clients, Joey completed over 80 direct investment transactions with transaction value of over $30 billion, venturing in financial services, banking, financial technology, media, telecommunications and healthcare and IT industries.
Currently lead senior management functions at family business. Responsibilities include corporate development, business development, corporate strategy, and marketing.


 Joann Ma


Ms. Joann Ma joins the Association of Family Offices in Asia in 2015 supervising Membership Committee.


She is currently the Managing Director of Gems Property Consultant Limited. Besides real estate experience, she engaged in the financial services industry for over 15 years. Before setting up her firm, she has taken C-level executive positions in leading international asset management firms, such as Alliance Bernstein, Invesco, Janus and Jardine Fleming. She was responsible to business development, marketing and corporate management, holding solid experience in sales and marketing, training and well verse all complicated financial products.


She attained good performance on asset gathering for a diversified portfolio of financial products cover unit trusts, mutual funds, structured products and alternative investment. She owned wealthy experience in managing channel productivity and maintained excellent relationship with retail banks, private banks, insurance companies and financial institutions in Asia-Pacific region.


Joann completed an Executive Development Program (EDP) from Stanford University (USA), holds a degree in Economics from University of New Sales Wales (Australia) and practices as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP).




Dennis Jaffe


Dr. Dennis Jaffe joins the Association of Family Offices in Asia in 2013 supervising Technical Committee.  

He has been the leading architects of the fields of family enterprise consulting.  As both an organization consultant and clinical psychologists, he helps multi-generational families to develop governance practices that build the capability of next generation leadership and ensure ongoing capability of financial organizations and family offices to serve their family clients. 

Dennis’s work with families helps inform his training of financial advisors and wealth managers about the knowledge and skills needed to serve their wealthy families clients.  He is an acclaimed speaker and workshop leader in programs for business families and financial service firms. 

Dennis was the professor of Organizational Systems and Psychology at Saybrook University in San Francisco where he is now professor emeritus.  He received his B.A. in Philosophy, M.A. in Management and Ph.D. in Sociology from Yale University.  His books guide business families in working together to build a great family and a thriving set of family enterprises.



Louis Poon

Dr. Louis Poon joined Association of Family Offices in Asia  in 2016 as  Executive Vice Chairman supervising the Development Committee.

Dr Poon has worked for finance industry for 18 years.  Currently, he is the Head of Asia Distribution of VTB Capital Investment Management. In the past, he has worked for Samsung Asset Management Group, Janus Capital Group; Robeco Asset Management Group; New Star Asset Management Group, Franklin Templeton Investments, Dao Heng Fund Management and Standard Chartered Bank.

Dr. Poon received the Doctor of Business Administration from City University of Hong Kong.  He is also the Chartered Marketer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing; and ex UT sub-committee member of Hong Kong Investment Funds Association.


Vickie Chan

Ms Vickie Chan joined the Association of Family Offices in Asia in 2015 being the Director General supervising the Research Office and supporting the Advisory Board.

Ms. Chan is the owner of her family business. She has extensive knowledge and experience in asset management, risk management, financial product development and investment operation.  

She has worked in various leading asset management companies sitting on the Board of Directors and she has registered as the responsible officer supervising the regulated business.



Mandy Lau

Ms Mandy Lau joined the Association of Family Offices in Asia in 2015 being the Executive Vice Chairman supervising AFO Operation and Finance Units.

Ms. Lau is the Director at Skybound Capital, an asset management firm specialising in alternatives particularly hedge funds and private equity. Skybound Capital was founded in Cape Town, South Africa in 2007, and has offices in London, Hong Kong, Sydney and Mauritius.

At Skybound, Miss Lau focuses on hedge fund selection and business development. Miss Lau started her career in alternative investments focusing on global hedge fund selection and due diligence in 2005 in New York and has worked in similar roles in New York, Paris and Hong Kong, most recently with Amundi Alternatives.

Miss Lau is from Hong Kong and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, USA.
